KEBS has committed to plant over 16800 trees in two phases and maintain for 5 years as one of their CSR activities in the financial year 2020/2021.

The event was flagged off by the chairman NSC, Eng, Bernard Ngore on 12th November 2020 and Head of conservation central region HOC Mr. Samuel Ihure.  Eng, Ngore in his remarks quoted the late wangara Mathai “ until you  dig a hole, plant a tree, water it and make it survive  you have not done a thing. He also urged everyone that since trees are a vital tool that directly ensure survival, we should make a habit to plant more trees.

KEBS main activities in the adopted site will be procurement of indigenous tree seedlings, site preparation, tree planting, weeding/creeper cutting, beating up and protection against any form of damage including fires.

KFS committed to Provide linkage to the Community Forest Association which will provide labour; and ensure that the trees planted jointly in the adopted forest area are maintained and protected from any form of destruction

The Constitution of Kenya 2010, Kenya Vision 2030, the National Forest Programme, the National Strategy for Achieving and Maintaining 10% National Tree Cover and other national development blueprints stipulate that tree cover must be increased and maintained to at least 10% of the Country’s land area for the forests to continue supporting the growth of the national economy through the supply of forest goods and services; and the Government of Kenya, desirous of achieving and maintaining 10% national forest cover, has directed that all Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies endeavour to join in the tree growing exercise.
