Membership Scheme

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) through the National Quality Institute (NQI) has established a voluntary registration scheme to formally recognize individuals and organizations, in both public and private sector, desiring to participate in the advancement of knowledge and practice of quality management.

Benefits

Becoming a member of NQI provides you with:

  • Recognition for your quality related roles and achievements to improve your career prospects
  • Opportunity to interact with other professionals through networking programs. Such programs include but not limited to workshops, conferences, events and other quality related Fora.
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is awarded for attendance and participation in these programs.
  • Member’s names are published in the KEBS website for reference purposes.

Membership Categories and Eligibility Criteria

The following shall be the categories and the eligibility criteria:-

• Individual Membership

Individual membership is open to all persons desiring to participate in the advancement of knowledge and practice of quality management. The categories of individual membership are as outlined below:

Individual Membership Category Eligibility
Fellow The Fellow grade signifies that the individual has demonstrated a substantial achievement or contribution to knowledge and practice of quality.
Note: This grade is by invitation only.
Member For individuals/professionals with demonstrated education (minimum a diploma from a recognized body) skills, training and experience in quality or whose key discipline or main focus of work is quality.

Has at least 3 years experience in  quality related activities

Shows evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Trained in the relevant current standards or business improvement-related qualification

Associate Member Must have been trained in the relevant current standard or business improvement related qualification

For professionals who are actively engaged in, or apply specific aspects of quality

Has at least 1 year experience in quality related activities

Shows evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Affiliate Member Persons who have an active interest or considering a career in quality or  other management systems, but have yet to demonstrate the competences and experience required for Associate membership

A student member upon graduation.

Student Member Full or part-time students who have interest in quality or other management systems/ business improvement-related fields.
School Based Quality Clubs Quality clubs in schools.

NQI Membership Registration

  1. Should you require assistance for any items not covered in the application form, please do not hesitate to contact NQI.
  2. When you have completed the form, and gathered the necessary supporting documentation for your application, please send this all to nqimembership@kebs.org.
  3. Two stage evaluation by committees, and if admitted pay applicable one off for qualified category and sign the membership code of conduct.
  4. Maintain your membership through participation in the membership activities and obtain CPD points each year, by attending the activities in the annual calendar and paying the subscription fee of KES 3,000.00 and KES 500 for students respectively.
