The Kenya Bureau of Standards intends to adopt the International Standards as detailed here below:
Civil - Timber and timber products

ISO 22157 -2; 2004
Title:Bamboo - Determination of physical and mechanical properties - Part 2: Laboratory manual
Scope: This Technical Report provides informative guidelines for staff in laboratories on how to perform tests according to ISO 22157-1.

The Closing date is in the next 10 Days on 2017-05-05

NOTE: Absence of any reply or comments shall be deemed to be an acceptance of the proposal for adoption and shall constitute an approval vote.

ISO 22157 -1;2004
Title:Bamboo - Determination of physical and mechanical properties - Part 1: Requirements
Scope: This part of ISO 22157 specifies test methods for evaluating the following characteristic physical and strength properties for bamboo: moisture content, mass per volume, shrinkage, compression, bending, shear and tension. This part of ISO 22157 covers tests on specimens of bamboo that are conducted to obtain data, which can be used to establish characteristic strength functions and to arrive at the allowable stresses. The data can also be used to establish the relationship between mechanical properties and factors, such as moisture content, mass per volume, growth site, position along the culm, presence of node and internode, etc., for quality control functions.

The Closing date is in the next 10 Days on 2017-05-05

NOTE: Absence of any reply or comments shall be deemed to be an acceptance of the proposal for adoption and shall constitute an approval vote.

ISO 22156;2004
Title:Bamboo - Structural design
Scope: This International Standard applies to the use of bamboo structures, i.e. structures made of bamboo (round bamboo, split bamboo, glued laminated bamboo) or bamboo-based panels joined together with adhesives or mechanical fasteners. This International Standard is based on limit-state design, and on the performance of the structure; see also 7.1. It is only concerned with the requirements for mechanical resistance, serviceability and durability of structures. Other requirements, e.g. concerning thermal or sound insulation, are not considered. Bamboo used as a composite structure may require additional considerations beyond this International Standard. Execution (work on-site, and fabrication of components off-site, and their erection on-site) is covered to the extent that is necessary to indicate the quality of construction materials and products which should be used and the standard of workmanship on-site needed to comply with the assumptions of the design rules.
