RE:INVITATION TO ATTEND WORKSHOP ON STRUCTURAL EUROCODES
The Kenya Bureau of Standards in collaboration with the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, Moi University wishes to invite you for above mentioned workshops.
The United Kingdom has adopted Structural Eurocodes and consequently the British Standards became obsolete from March 2013. During a workshop in February 2012 in Eldoret (organised by KEBS and Moi University) stakeholders in the sector decided that Kenya adopts Structural Eurocodes standards.
The standardization process started immediately and in September 2012, the Structural Eurocodes with the UK National Annex were adopted as Kenya Standards through Gazette Notice (No. 13048, 14th September 2012). It is expected that by January 2021 the process of implementation of Structural Eurocodes will have been completed for their use in the construction industry.
To ensure seamless implementation of these standards, two 3-day sensitization workshops have been organised, in Nairobi and in Mombasa. The workshops will be facilitated by experts from Belgium and the Netherlands. The break-down of the agenda for the workshops is as follows:
Day 1: General Awareness Workshop
Day 2 & 3: Technical Sensitization Workshop
Target group: Technical personnel in Government ministries, Institutions of higher learning, Professional bodies, Control & certification bodies and Companies in the construction industry.
The first 3-day workshop will take place in Mombasa from 18th to 20th May 2016.
Participants are invited to apply for one or both of the workshops.
The course fee for the 3 days is KES 45,000.
Application forms and other details can be found on the website of KEBS www.kebs.org
