Metrology department is mandated to realise, maintain and disseminate the SI units of measurements. In fulfilling this mandate the department currently operates 13 primary laboratories as follows.

- Volume and Flow
- Dimensional Metrology
Electrical Metrology Laboratories
- Time and Frequency
- AC/DC (Direct Current and Low Frequency measurements)
- Energy and Transformer
- Photometry
- Acoustics and Vibration
- Dosimetry (Ionising radiation)
Mechanical workshop and Instrumentation
These two units support the primary laboratories and the testing laboratories. They have sufficient equipment and personell to offer the support required for most of the repairs normally required.
