Energy Laboratory

The laboratory has the responsibility of maintenance and dissemination of the unit of
Electrical energy – the kWh.

Energy measurements offered
  • Active energy (kWh)
  • Reactive energy (kVAhr)
  • Maximum demand (VA)
  • Power factor

This laboratory is equipped with the following standards.

  1.  Universal meter test bench in conjunction with an electronic substandard meter (EPZ 301) of class 0.05.
  2.   An automatic Portable test system incorporated with TPZ 303 standard meter whose class    is 0.02.

With the above-mentioned standards the laboratory is fully capable of offering calibration of both Electromechanical and Electronic (static) energy meters in the laboratory and on-site.

These calibration services are offered to all interested parties.

Transformer laboratory

This laboratory is entirely utilized for calibration of both current and voltage instrument transformers. It is equipped with a transformer testing set, which incorporates the following:
Standard current transformer with rate d primary currents from 5A to 3 000A.
Standard voltage transform (unearthed) with rated primary voltages from 5kV to 40kV.
Standard voltage transformer (earthed) with rated primary voltages from 120V to 240 V; 3 kV to 40kV.

Standard burdens for both current and voltage transformers with test point (percentage) magnitude error and angle error displays
Equipment Calibrated in the Lab.

  • KWh meters
  • Power factors meters.
  • Current transformers
  • Voltage transformers
  • Maximum demand indicators
  • Electronic (static/energy meters)
  • High voltage test instruments
  • Insulation/insulation meters
  • Spark Testers
