The photometry laboratory maintains and disseminates the national measuring standards of light in Kenya.
The national photometric scale is traceable to the national photometric scale of South Africa using the definition of the candela and the spectral response of the standard human eye.
We have the capability to calibrate, among others:
- Illuminance meters
- Luminance meters
- Photometers
- Luminous intensity lamps
- Luminous flux lamps
- Spectrophotometers
- Colorimeters
Light meters calibration set-up
We constantly strive to improve our measuring expertise, instrumentation and standards in order to ensure that the Kenyan industry and research and educational institutions have access to international competitive measuring facilities at an affordable price.
An extensive list of capabilities exists in each of the fields listed above.
The laboratory is at development stage and will, in future, be able to maintain standards in the fields of:
- Radiometry
- Spectro-radiometry
- Ultraviolet radiometry
